SYNOPSIS

"Formula 407" - MARISA PAVAN as MARIA. "Formula 407" - JOHN DEVLIN as MAJOR KARL KELLER. "Formula 407" - CHARLES MACAULAY as AMBASSADOR McCAULEY.

Fort Frazier, Ordnance testing facility. August, 1942. Major Steve Trevor [LYLE WAGGONER], Yeoman Diana Prince [LYNDA CARTER], Gral. Blankenship [RICHARD EASTHAM] and Corporal Etta Candy [BEATRICE COLEN] attend a test of a secret formula that can turn rubber as strong as steel.

This formula was developed by Professor Moreno [NEHEMIAH PERSOFF] in Argentina, and Gral. Blankenship is willing to send Steve to Buenos Aires in order to protect him from Nazi agents and bring the formula back to Washington. Considering that Diana speaks Spanish fluently, Gral. Blankenship thinks she's the ideal companion for Steve as an interpreter. Argentina is officially a neutral nation but using Swiss passports Nazis use the country as a base in the continent, and there are many pro-German people as well.

Buenos Aires, Argentina -a picturesque country that has remained neutral in this time of war. At Professor's Moreno home, Maria [MARISA PAVAN] is assisting Professor Moreno testing his formula time and time again, trying to be sure of its consistency. Meanwhile at the S.S. Headquarters in Berlin, Germany, considering a cut off of rubber supply, the S.S. General [CURT LOWENS] commissions Major Keller [JOHN DEVLIN] to get hold of Professor's Moreno's formula out of the Americans hands.

Back in Washington DC, Diana gets ready for her trip to Argentina. Etta is envy of the situation: "Do you have any idea of how much I envy you? You and Steve alone under an incredible huge South American moon".

•  Diana innocently responds: "that's scientifically impossi-ble... The moon is the same size in the Northern and Southern hemispheres."

•  Etta: "Diana sometimes I don't understand you"
•  Diana: "Why?"

•  Etta: "I'm talking about hot-blooded gauchos, sizzling romance, exciting adventure, You're talking as if you're going around the corner to the grocery store."

•  Diana: "Well, this is an assignment, you know, and I have to be un duty."

•  Etta: "I give up Diana. You're hopeless. Hopeless."

Steve and Diana arrive to the Buenos Aires and meet Ambassador McCauley [CHARLES MACAULAY] who explains what's the political situation in Argentina. "...and even though Argentina's supposed to be neutral... it's still a pretty hot spot... ...agents, saboteurs, provocateurs, you name it... It seems as if there are more accents here than in Berlin".

A few miles from the airport Nazi agents wait... On their way from the airport to the embassy, Steve, Diana and the Ambassador are intercepted by these agents. Diana quickly runs to some bushes whirls into Wonder Woman and saves them. Steve is surprised by Wonder Woman's presence in Argentina. The Ambassador invites Wonder Woman to a dinner in Professor Moreno's house, but she refuses with the excuse of knowing a little bit of Buenos Aires for being her first time in the country.

That same evening Diana, Steve and Ambassador MacCauley join for dinner Professor Moreno, his daughter Lydia [MARIA GRIMM], Antonio Cruz [ARMANDO SILVESTRE], his assistant Maria, and her fiancée Karl Keller, who pretends to be a Swiss businessman. Diana must avoid Antonio Cruz'  romantic advances, while Steve is seduced by Lydia Moreno, Professor Moreno's daughter. While they go out on a romantic walk in the gardens of the house, Steve and Lydia are kidnapped. Diana can't get rid off Antonio Cruz, but Wonder Woman must intervene to help Steve and Lydia. She gets rid off his arms asking him for a glass of champagne, and quickly turns into Wonder Woman. She fights with the Nazi agents but she's chloroformed and is also captured.

The following morning, deep in the cellars bellow Professor Moreno's home, Steve Trevor and Wonder Woman are trapped. When Wonder Woman awakens, they try to get the Nazis' attention and get free. Meanwhile back at the Laboratory, Professor Moreno's gets to know that Keller is a Nazi major who's willing to take Formula 407. Keller not only intends to get the Formula but also asks Professor Moreno to make a fake one, considering that he has also kidnapped Lydia, and uses this fact to extortionate him. Maria feels guilty about the situation but Professor Moreno understands that she has only be cheated by the man she loves.

While Steve tries to convince Professor Moreno to deliver a fake formula to the Nazis, Wonder Woman talks to Maria and try to convince her that she's been cheated and must help put the things the right way. Professor Moreno delivers a fake formula to Keller but he easily finds out the nature of this fake formula. Professor Moreno's obliged to give Keller the real formula, but it seems he has no intention to release Lydia. Steve ends up fighting with Keller but he's recaptured and taken to the beach where they keep Lydia. There at the beach the Nazis will rendezvous with a submarine which will take them back to Germany.

After Keller leaves with Steve to the beach, Wonder Woman interrogates one of the Nazi agents and finds out where they are taking him and where they have been taking Lydia. Wonder Woman arrives to the shack at the top of a cliff in the beach and liberates Lydia. While Steve fights with Keller Wonder Woman tries to stop the other Nazis which are throwing bombs at her. Though Keller is defeated by Steve, the Nazi frogmen manage to escape.

A few days later, back in Washington D.C., Diana tells Etta about her experience in South America. Steve asks Etta to tell General Blankenship that he is back from ordnance and that the first heavy equipment using the Professor's formula will come off the production line within a week and concludes: "If it wasn't for Wonder Woman that formula would be in the hands of the enemy by now. I wonder how she always knows when we need her the most". Diana replies: "Well, it could be feminine intuition".

TRIVIA:
This episode was shot 9th in production order but shown 11th in broadcast order.
On this episode we learn that Yeoman Prince speaks fluent Spanish.
This is the first and only time in the first season that Diana Prince actually travels to another country.
This is the second time Wonder Woman travels to another country.
When they arrive to Buenos Aires and the plane is landing, we can see mountains, there are no mountains in Buenos Aires. In fact the geographical region where Buenos Aires is located is the Pampas, and precisely pampas is a plain land.
When the Nazi agents wait to intercept Steve, Diana and the Ambassador, they're waiting out of a cliff by the sea and there's a beach. Buenos Aires is a river city and has no sea at sight, nor beach.
After Diana twirls into Wonder Woman in the beach trying to stop the Nazi agents, we she jumps, is clearly seen that is her stunt double.
When Diana meets Professor Moreno at his home she says in Spanish "Estoy encantada de conocerlo" which translates as "I'm pleased to meet you".
The house used as Professor Moreno's house is the same used later in episode "The Queen And The Thief" and the aisle of that house is the same one used in "The Pied Piper".
When Wonder Woman is chloroformed, we see the Nazi agent do it with his right hand, but in the close-up is his left hand which is seen.
The plate number of the car that arrives to Professor Moreno's home is 260-539 and adequately reads Buenos Aires.
This is the second time they're throwing bombs at Wonder Woman.
