Bonnie Murphy (JANE ACTMAN), a bright young woman, surprises her new boyfriend, Mark Reuben (JAMES SLOYMAN) who is working nearby. As she crosses the street toward J*R Electronics, outside of which Mark's van, painted with telephone company markings, is parked, two cars suddenly collide with a crash of bumpers.

Mark and his partner, Bob Baker (CHARLES HAID) are inside the van, tinkering with the extraordinary array of electronic gear, when the accident happens outside. When Mark steps out of the van and hears her voice calling him, he explains to Baker that she's a girl who he's been dating but trying to dump. "But," says Reuben, "she hangs on like poison ivy." Just as Bonnie dashes past the van toward Mark, the van explodes in a ball of flames. Mark and Bob run like the devil to get away from the scene, virtually dragging Bonnie with them. Meanwhile, she stammers that she feels that she has a certain gift for disaster. "I always seem to be in the middle when something awful happens," she says. Just then Bob trips, taking a nasty fall. "You see, Mark?" she says, "I'm a Jinx."

Later, at IADC headquarters, Steve Trevor (LYLE WAGGONER) explains to Diana Prince (LYNDA CARTER) that the tiny charred pieces of sachinery that litter his desk were found in the exploded van. He now points to the remains of a super-sensitive listening device, one that was stolen from a government research lab Just a month ago. The device says Steve, could be used to crack open the most sophisticated combination lock vault.

The theft of the device, Steve goes on to explain, was rumored to be the work of William Mayfield (RAYMOND ST. JACQUES), one of the best white collar thieves in the business. He specializes in stealing rare, one-of-a-kind items like touring Incan treasures, prototype weaponry and such. No one has been able to turn up more than street gossip, but he is reported to keep most of his precious artifacts locked safely away and fences or holds the other items for ransom. Bonnie and Mark visit a research scientist, Dr. Elizabeth Eroen (INA BALIN), who confirms Bonnie's strange ability to shift probability. Simply stated, Bonnie is a Jinx. Bob now walks in to the doctor's office and tells Mark that he's "sort of!' reached Mayfield. Then the shadow of a hulking hood, Neil (DICK BUTKUS) enters the room.

At Mayfield's estate, Mark and Bob are lectured by the angered Mayfield, who chastises them for destroying fifty-thous and dollars worth of irreplaceable, one-of-a-kind equipment. Mayfield confirms Mark's report of Bonnie being a Sinx with a call to Dr. Koren. Mark now suggests that Bonnie could be the perfect diversionary weapon for them to carry out their thefts. Mayfield does not like to leave things to chance, but based on Dr. Koren's word, he's willing to take the risk.

Mark now bluffs Bonnle into believing that he and Bob are agents with the IADC, but he succeeds in making her nervous enough to produce the desired Jinx, which only happens when she is upset. They are approaching J*R Electronics and Mark tells Bonnie to wait for the other IADC agents. Then Mark disappears. She is frantic. Suddenly a propane truck and a passenger car collide, creating enough pandemonium in the streets to allow Bob and Mark to successfully steal the sensing equipment from the J*R lab.

Outside, Diana Prince drives up the street. Seeing the commotion she heads for the nearest alley and whirls into Wonder Woman, and rescues the man trapped in the passenger car. Seeing that the truck driver is safely clear of his rig, she douses the fire by breaking the head off a fire-hydrant.

Back at IADC Headquarters Diana and Steve examine the clues. Diana understands that Mayfield's men must have crested the accident in front of J*R to empty the building and give them enough time to steel a sensitive micro-wave scrambler. Steve now suggests that Maytield' quarry could be the Declaration Of Independence. The National Archives is about to do its annual spring cleaning and the documents are removed to a special depository, but Steve adds that the documents are ringed by a contingent of marines at all times.

Bonnie now enters the IADC, hoping to find Mark there since he said that he was with the IADC. The receptionist (DULCIE JORDAN), Of course, does not know Mark. Diana now enters the reception area and immediately recognizes Bonnie as the girl who was seen at the accident outside of J*R. Diana brings Bonnie back to her office. When she starts to tell her that Mark must have lied to her about being an IADC agent, Bonnie gets very upset and suddenly all of the paintings on the wall come crashing down. Diana now allows Bonnie to leave the IADC, but she knows that Bonnie is a firm lead into the peculiar plot.

Bonnie finds herself caught in the midst of what is now a masterplan to blackout all of Washington D.C., sending the city into total confusion and utilizing the national guard and the marine corps to prevent the myraid of potential disasters. While in the throws of darkness, Mayfield and his men will enter the depository and steal the priceless documents, after gassing the guards. Bonnie is a key instrument in the plan but the  outcome is botched

when Mark vervally insults her. She realizes that she has been had and beats a hasty departure. She then falls into the hands of Diana and Steve. They manage to secure enough information to learn that the entire city of Washington is at the hands of Mayfield. When the lights go out, their suspicions are confirmed.

Now it is up to Wonder Woman and Bonnie to save the documents. Bonnie, now convinced that she can use her power to make good things happen instead of evil, proves to be enormously helpful in restoring power and light to Washington.  Wonder Woman moves into action quickly and corrals the criminals. Mayfield flees the scene, but the Declaration of Independence and the other papers remain the sole property of the government.
