The following is the Official LYNDA CARTER biography taken from a Press Release from 1989.

LYNDA CARTER BIOGRAPHY

Lynda Carter is a rare talent who has proven to be a truly international superstar. Her WONDER WOMAN television series endures as a hit in 140 countries, and she continues to set personal appearance records on three continents including sold-out engagements at the London Palladium and the Sporting Club of Monte Carlo.

The multi-faceted Lynda continues to delight audiences with her impressive musical talents. In addition to regular personal appearances in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Atlantic City, Lynda completed her fifth network musical variety special, LYNDA CARTER: BODY AND SOUL, which aired on CBS to widespread acclaim from critics at THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, DAILY VARIETY and TV GUIDE. That show highlighted Lynda's singing and dancing abilities and garnered two Emmy nominations. Certainly these projects will enhance Lynda's position as one of the most exciting performers of the 1980's. She kicked off the decade with a full blast of critically acclaimed and highly successful versatility. In the musical performance field, she shattered attendance records from the Desert Inn in Las Vegas to the Hotel de la Reforma in Mexico City, earning along the way such reviews as:

"...shazam superstar... one of the most impressive performers of the year on a Vegas stage. She made believers out of all who saw her."

Los Angeles Herald-Examiner

"Carter slinks, sizzles and sings her way through a wide range of songs. She is certainly equipped on a lot of levels to sock it to an audience."

Hollywood Reporter

Her Emmy-winning CBS special, LYNDA CARTER CELEBRATION, was one of the year's highest-rated musical variety offerings. Her subsequent special, LYNDA CARTER: STREET LIFE, also won the ratings derby. In the field of dramatics, she again has consistently proved herself a ratings and review winner in tackling significant subject matter. BORN TO BE SOLD, a motion picture for television, not only was a major ratings winner for NBC, it did so while addressing an issue of deep social significance: the plight of children sold illegally for adoption. In an encore broadcast, BORN TO BE SOLD was the third highest rated show of the week. Equal success was achieved by Lynda's television movie THE LAST SONG, a highly suspenseful CBS film which candidly addressed the perils of uncontrolled chemical pollution, grabbing a 37 share of the audience. In yet another dramatic role, she starred in the CBS-TV movie, RITA HAYWORTH: THE LOVE GODDESS, playing the coveted title role. Lynda also starred with Loni Anderson in the 1984 NBC-TV series, PARTNERS IN CRIME.

During the past several years, she hosted three other dynamic television variety specials, starred in two dramatic television films, and became the first entertainer to associate herself with a major women's professional tennis tournament. Lynda hosts such noted pros as Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert in the annual $250,000 Lynda Carter/Maybelline U.S. Women's Hardcourt Championships. A recent project was the CBS-TV film STILLWATCH, based on the New York Times #1 best-seller by Mary Higgins Clark. This suspense thriller, airing in the spring of 1987, was produced by Lynda's own production company and co-starred Angie Dickinson and Don Murray.

Appointed Beauty and Fashion Director of Maybelline Cosmetics, Lynda appears in advertising as well as serves as a consultant in the development and marketing of new products. Her achievements in this area startled the entire cosmetics industry, for in the initial 18 months following her association with Maybelline products, the company's sales tripled and skyrocketed from $70 million to over $200 million. As the result of numerous requests by the public for beauty tips and information, Lynda produced an instructional home video, LYNDA CARTER: SECRETS TO THE PERFECT MAKE-UP, released in late November, 1986.

Lynda has been the recipient of an unprecedented number of honors, including the London-based International Academy of Beauty bestowing upon her the title of "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World." She has, in addition, been named one of Mr. Blackwell's "Ten Best Dressed Women in America," Gallup Poll's "Ten Most Admired Women in America," and one of Helene Curtis' "Ten Best Dressed Women in America." Her personality print received the coveted million selling Gold Poster Award.

In 1986 Lynda was National Crusade Chairman for the American Cancer Society and serves on the World Board of Governors of the U.S.O. In 1987 she served as Honorary Chairperson of the Foundation for Exceptional Children. Lynda has also been an active supporter of the American Ballet Theatre, National Committee Arts for the Handicapped, Feed the Hungry, and the Committee for Creative Nonviolence. She has also won numerous awards including the Miss World USA title, Mexico's Ariel Award as International Entertainer of the Year, North America's Hispanic Woman of the Year, and most recently, the Golden Eagle Award for Consistent Performance in Television and Film.

In January 1984, Lynda married Robert Altman, a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Clifford & Warnke. The couple has one child, James Clifford Altman, born in January 1988. They maintain residences in both Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.
